Fan Palm Nuts have a dark blue skin covering a dark-orange and fleshy palm fruit. Beneath the fruit is a small nut. Many birds do not eat the actual nut inside but enjoy the skin and flesh surrounding the nut. Birds with larger beaks are more likely to actually consume the nut itself. These nuts are a great “beginner” nut or perfect for those birds who are a bit more passive in their chewing habits.
These nuts are a particular favorite of our Eclectus, Hawkheaded, Caique, Senegal, Meyer, African Grey, Goffins Cockatoo and Amazon parrots.
This video shows many of the species mentioned feasting on Fan Palm nuts. All the birds in this video are our personal birds.
